When Anxiety is Getting The Best of You...

40 million adults in the United States are affected by ANXIETY. It’s only fitting that we begin breaking down what Anxiety is and how it can be debilitating for the woman on the move and the woman in business.

What is Anxiety:

Anxiety is intense, persistent and excessive worry about EVERYDAY situations. When affected by Anxiety one can feel a fast heart rate, rapid breathing, feeling tired and sweating.

A series of smaller events or a big event can trigger anxiety, which is our bodies natural response to stress. Anxiety is centered around the feeling of fear and/or apprehension about what happens next. Feeling nervous about a big test, or new job is completely normal, but excessive worry that’s extreme, long-lasting and debilitating could be a high level Anxiety or Anxiety disorder.

When Anxiety is present you’re in overdrive. With the release of adrenaline, your body is in fight or flight mode constantly.

When you’re afraid to do things you’d otherwise enjoy or have the feeling of fear with you constantly, it may be time to talk to someone about what you’re feeling.

The feelings of Anxiety can range from rapid heart beat to stomach butterflies. You can also feel like you’ve been punched in the stomach, like you’re losing control and flustered in your decision making.

Although symptoms will vary from person to person, anxiety can also affect your sleep and how well you concentrate.

Pay Attention To:

If you’re worrying too much

If your anxiety makes you angry

You feel depressed and hopeless

If anxiety affects your physical well being

If you have suicidal thoughts

Is there a solution?

Absolutely. Therapy and/or medication can help give you the coping skills needed to neutralize the Anxiety or regulate brain function. The first step is identifying the issue, then your provider can create the best treatment plan for you.
