Innocent

Innocent

Born into the world, blank canvas,

In your arms, you paint them black and white,

You taint their playful hands to only grasp what looks like theirs,

You reinforce that we don’t play with those children over and over again,

Worrying more about the color of their skin than the characteristics of being a true friend,

When will this ignorance end?

Stop splattering negative paint on these innocent children.

Start pumping love through their veins.

Stop poisoning their minds.

Start telling them the truth. We are all God’s children.

Start splashing togetherness in their hearts.

Stop with the separation, silently promoting segregation.

What are you painting on the canvas?

Love or hate.
