Orlando

Trying to process and I can’t.

I can’t even put into words how I feel.

I’ll try.

The Orlando victim’s lives that was lost.

They were people, real people!

That guy, yes, he was somebody’s son.

That girl, she was somebody’s little princess.

That woman, she was somebody’s mother.

That man, he was some young person’s dad.

Someone is going to miss their voices every single day.

Someone is going to look for their car to pull in the driveway.

Someone is looking for their hug right now.

Someone was depending on their love every second.

Someone is thinking of them this very minute.

Someone is going to cry every hour.

Someone is going to ask why every day.

Someone is going to struggle to get through the week.

Hearts broken all over the world,

Orlando we feel you, it sent ripples all over the world.

I can’t even fathom how much hate there is in the world.

It’s sad that I can’t be me and you can’t be you.

I thought we were free.

Now, I see.

If I’m not living by your standards, I’m wrong and you’re right.

Who are you?

I don’t worship you.

The audacity of you to judge one and not yourself,

As I watched this unfold on television and social media, my heart hurt so badly.

This nightmare, I keep telling myself, wake up!

I’m awake and this is real!

It’s going to take us a lifetime to heal.

If you can’t sympathize and empathize,

Shut your darn mouth and don’t criticize.

Orlando we send you our love and prayers.

“Hate is a disease that only Love can cure.”
