New Year's Blues
It’s the day before New Year’s and all through the house,
Food aroma, music, and laughter filled the whole entire house.
We all were sitting around reminiscing and having fun.
Then, we realized that this year we had left some things undone.
We had been absent most of the year.
It broke our hearts how we thought we were really here.
Our ears were death to the things that were important and we couldn’t hear.
We forgot to say, I love you and appreciate all that you do.
We forgot to comfort each other and wish one another well.
We forgot to forgive each other, you’re still holding on to things, I can tell.
We left things in the air that should have been resolved.
We used, I was busy; I forgot as excuses.
We make time for the people, places, and things that we want.
24 hours, now moving forward, what are we going to do?
Time is one of the most precious things in the world; don’t let it get away from you.
Never be jealous of others, we don’t know the choreography behind their dance.
Looking out the window, darkness is settling in.
Counting our blessings, slowly we all began to grin.
His grace and mercy I know held us together back then.
Still holding on to it each and every day and I know that he will continue to be our saving grace.
As New Year’s Eve slowly disappears,
I hope and pray that you invest your time in all that you love and make memories all throughout the days ahead and reminisce about them in the upcoming years.
