MusicMood: Masterpiece by Jazmine Sullivan

Hey Honeys,

We all come into self-awareness in different ways. For some, it can take years to discover what our strengths are -- for some even decades. Music has a way of documenting our growth, our pain and our sorrows.  I can drift away and even connect my personal growth stories. I believe the first time we heard masterpiece by Jazmine Sullivan the feelings were mutual. Knodding my head in agreeance that I'd also wasted so much time not operating at my max potential. For many, Masterpiece, by Jazmine Sullivan is a self-worth anthem -- a true proclamation.

Every part of me is a vision of a portrait

Of Mona, of Mona Lisa

Every part of me is beautiful

And I finally see I'm a work of art

A masterpiece

Like the lyrics of this song, I can remember when I discovered my strengths, the moment is surreal and takes your thinking to a whole nother dimension. You start to feel like your dreams are valid. You also start to realize that all of the dumb things you said to yourself were really dumb. It’s instantaneous - you want to start speaking better to yourself and about yourself. You feel exposed, but you’re okay with it.

My eyes ain't used to these rays

I'm feeling exposed, but I can't hide no more

I can't hide

As the sun shines on all of my glory

My flaws don't look so bad at all

What was I so afraid of?

It’s crazy to think that at some point we were afraid of ourselves -- our potential, our beauty. We dimmed our own light not even knowing we were doing it. It happens. And now that we’re on a path to self-love and discovery we can enjoy music like this that causes us to celebrate where we’ve come from and where we’re going. When was the moment you realized you were a masterpiece. What were you doing? Where were you? How did you celebrate?
