The Deva Cut, hasn’t reached the 65% percent of curly cuties around the United States, but it has come a long way. It has come to the African American hair care industry and is making a small splash, but an interesting one. Those who have gotten the cut are hitting the blog sites with mixed reviews. They are saying that it does give you a defined and stronger curly look, but it also places you in a position of not being able to change your hair style until it fully grows out again. The cut comes with a shaping and a softening product that was specifically designed to give the curly girls that traditional and popular bob look.
The Deva cut was created by Lorraine Massey, a hair stylist in New York. According to curltopia.com, she created the style by cutting each curl individually and at an angle to not disrupt the curl pattern. The site also states that for a true deva cut, your hair must be done by professionals trained to do this style. Those stylists had to go through 2 days of curl training and moisturizing to understand curl patterns. Blogger Curly Nikki created a style for herself similar to the Deva cut without taking away her long locks. She used a twist out style to create it. The Deva cut by some is too much work trying to maintain that first look while others like the blogger of lexiwiththecurls.com find it a great style for “lazy” naturalists like her.
