What will 2014 have in store for Sophie Okonedo OBE? A young, talented beautiful actress and mother of one, Sophie has had an extensive career and much success in the US and her hometown of London, England UK. This naturalista has been the recipient of an extensive list of awards from Best Supporting Actress on the Academy Awards stage, the Golden Globes and a total of 5 Image awards. Sophie is most known for her role in “The Secret Life of Bees”. She acted with the phenomenal and legendary Queen Latifah, Grammy award winning singer Alicia Keys, Jennifer Hudson and long time child actor Dakota Fanning. Her character was May Boatwright one of the sisters in a culture rich family living in the south. Also a part of her acting repertoire is her role as Winnie Mandela in the BBC television show Mrs. Mandela.
Okonedo is continuing to broaden her horizons as an actor and a mother. They live in Muswell Hill, London. Okonedo has called her daughter an “Irish, Nigerian Jew” Sophie says, "I feel as proud to be Jewish as I feel to be black.” Black is beautiful but black accomplishments and black love just in time for mother’s day is the inspiration that we all need.
