By: Alea J., Curl News Correspondent

Last week Essence magazine made a splash with their exclusive covers, featuring three naturals that stay at the top of their, music, fashion and natural hair game!  HoneyBeNatural Magazine brings you the curl news on what Solange Knowles, Erykah Badu & Ledisi are bringing to the culture of black hair and their newest accomplishments!

Solange, one of Essence magazine's featured cover girls for the May issue has proved to be so much more than a singer, songwriter, and model. She has certainly become a pioneer in the natural hair game. Her unique and ever flowing braids have become the inspiration behind so many new styles and fashion trends throughout the country. The natural hair community was not the only one continually engulfed in the fierce Solange.  Knowles is also the developer of her first sneaker collection line and doubles as Puma's art director and creative consultant! Knowles designs bring color to the brand and a new look to an old classic.

And although the timeless Erykah Badu keeps up with the new trends with her endless unique ideas and untouchable style no one could have imagined Givenchy! Givenchy's Africa-meets-Japan themed collection will feature singer and songwriter Erykah Badu in the Spring/Summer 2014 campaign. Ticsi, Givenchy’s leading man, says, “ I hope the images will help others embrace diversity within the industry -- an issue that even he believes has gotten out of control.

Proving to be an equally driving force in the music industry and on tour for her new album entitled, The Truth," Ledisi is a musical genius and loctress with an iconic head of hair that is accompanying an explosive amount of excitement over her new album and tour produced in part by Essence Magazine. Ledisi, one of our First Lady’s, Michelle Obama’s favorite singers and a neo soul revelation. This multi nominated Grammy artist has an enticing album filled with the sultry sounds of R&B.

The essence of natural hair is just the tip of the iceberg for the women of today. Professionalism is no question when natural hair is concerned. Solange, Erykah and Ledisi are single handedly defying all logic in the social scheme of society. Natural hair is not a henderance or a stigma it’s artisty and beauty. We will continue to follow the marvelous things these women and all women are doing-daring to be magnificently natural.
