Essence's Women in Hollywood Luncheon

Veterans in Hollywood and the up and coming celebrated Essence Magazine’s 7th Annual Women In Hollywood Luncheon! The superstars came out to celebrate what is said to be Hollywood's biggest year yet in the advancement of black films. 

The entire event showcased black women in front of the camera and behind the scenes. Fashion forward, proud women of color represented the importance of their positions in Hollywood and there are no signs of any of them stopping now! Kerry Washington, Oprah Winfrey, Angela Bassett, Lupita Nyong'o [fashions it girl] and AfroBella-just to name a few, were in attendance.  

This year, Oscar nominee Lupita Nyong’o was honored with the “Best Breakthrough Performance” award for her role as in "12 Years A Slave"! Cheryl Boone Isaacs- Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences President received the “Trailblazer Award”. The evenings “Visionary Award” went to award-winning director,writer, artist and creative genius Ava DuVernay! And Honeybe Natural, too! As a matter of fact, I think it's safe to say Natural is IN and taking over! 

Other guests in attendance were Tracee Ellis Ross, Tika Sumpter, Common, Brandy, Alfre Woodard, Danai Gurira, Regina King, Laila Ali, Garcielle Beauvais, Tamera Mowry-Housely and Yalonda Sangweni Essences' own Entertainment editor flawlessly corresponding with every guest to celebrate 7 years of excellence and many more to come for the cultural,  talented women in African American Hollywood.
